President Maia Sandu met today with World Bank Group Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Anna Bjerde. In the context of the war in the neighbourhood, the Head of State said that Moldova needs support to create functional rapid crisis response mechanisms and reduce the country's vulnerability. As one of the main concerns is energy security, the sector needs to be restructured to diversify energy sources, providing access to reasonable prices and increase investment in renewables.
President Maia Sandu praised the collaboration we have with the World Bank in key areas such as education, agriculture and public services. The Head of State stressed that in these difficult conditions it is important to strengthen the capacities of public institutions. We also need to rapidly develop other sectors that facilitate economic growth, such as IT and digitalisation.
