The distinction was given to Gheorghe Zamfir by presidential decree on 15 May 2013 „as a token of high appreciation of distinguished merits for developing the musical art, for significant contribution to promoting the national cultural values and prodigious artistic activity.”
"Moldova has a European vocation. The Association Agreement with the EU, due to be ratified by the European Parliament on 13 November, is the tool that will allow modernising the country. The main beneficiaries of the agreement are the citizens of Moldova ", said Joseph Daul.
The president, accompanied by presidential advisers, laid a bouquet of flowers at the casket of the late Constantin Tanase, at the Sfinta Teodora de la Sihla Church in Chisinau.
President of the Party of European Socialists, Bulgarian MEP Sergei Stanishev informed President Timofti that the European Parliament would ratify the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union on 13 November.
Timofti rejected the candidates of Lucia Bagrin and Natalia Berbec, as well as of Corneliu Cretu and Petru Harmaniuc, proposed for judge post by the Superior Council of Magistracy for a five-year term.
The two presidents agreed to develop relations of friendship and understanding between Moldova and Ukraine, as well as foster joint cooperation in European integration.
