President Nicolae Timofti had a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on 28 October. Timofti congratulated Poroshenko on the victory of the pro-European political forces in the parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

President Nicolae Timofti expressed respect for the will of the Ukrainian people to choose the European path, a space of democracy and social welfare.

Nicolae Timofti wished Petro Poroshenko success in carrying out the pro-European programme, as well as the plan on re-establishing the neighbouring country's territorial unity.

The two presidents agreed to develop relations of friendship and understanding between Moldova and Ukraine, as well as foster joint cooperation in European integration.

Nicolae Timofti and Petro Poroshenko agreed to soon meet. Petro Poroshenko expressed willingness to pay a visit to Chisinau in next November.
