The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met today with HE Yoshihiro Katayama, Ambassador of Japan in Chisinau, on the occasion of the end of his mandate in our country.
The officials discussed the bilateral agenda. In the context, the Head of State expressed her appreciation for the constant support provided by Japan, which is the third largest development partner of our country. President Maia Sandu mentioned priority areas of Japanese assistance, such as health and agriculture, as well as the emergency aid linked to Covid-19 pandemic and the refugee crisis. She also highlighted the role of Japanese investments in Moldova, which has created thousands of jobs.
As a token of appreciation for his contribution to the development of Moldovan-Japanese relations and for his support to the modernization of our country, President Maia Sandu awarded Ambassador Yoshihiro Katayama the "Order of Honour".
