The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, held talks this morning with the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. The interlocutors talked about the good relations between our countries and how we can expand the existing cooperation.

The Head of State thanked Prime Minister Kishida for the development assistance that Moldova has received over the years. The President expressed her appreciation for the assistance that helps us improve the quality of public services, including in health, increase the performance of the agricultural sector and develop the economy. "For example, this year, we are receiving assistance to purchase fire-fighting equipment - 19 fire-fighting vehicles worth €12 million. Japan's money will also be used to purchase high-performance equipment worth about €8 million for five large hospitals in the country: the Institute of Emergency Medicine, the Republican Clinical Hospital "Timofei Mosneaga", the Institute of Mother and Child, the Oncological Institute and the Municipal Clinical Hospital "Holy Trinity". Recently, we received a batch of medical equipment worth about 1.3 million euros for the laboratories managed by the National Public Health Agency," said President Maia Sandu.

The Head of State also spoke with Prime Minister Kishida about the impact of Russia's war against Ukraine on our country, including the challenges we are facing as a result, the most serious being the energy crisis. In this context, President Maia Sandu mentioned that we are interested in developing joint initiatives that will help Moldova accelerate the development of its energy security.
