Presidency of the Republic of Moldova
President Maia Sandu met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Marija Pejčinović Burić. The discussion focused on cooperation with the CoE, which for almost three decades has been a solid partner in Moldova’s reform and democratisation process.
The Head of State underlined that despite the challenges brought by the war, the authorities are continuing their efforts to uproot corruption and reform the justice system. According to President Maia Sandu, these reforms are part of the country's European agenda, but also a commitment to Moldova’s citizens to build a just society and a resilient economy.
President Maia Sandu appreciated the Council of Europe's support for the promotion of human rights and democratic values, the rule of law and media freedom.
