Moldovan president has phone conversation with Romanian counterpart

President Nicolae Timofti today had a phone conversation with his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu.

Timofti thanked Basescu for the support Romania had provided to Moldova so far in its European integration.

“It is the merit of Romania and your personal one, Mr Basescu, that Moldova got the status of country associated with the European Union,” Timofti said.

For his part, Traian Basescu congratulated Nicolae Timofti on the today’s ratification of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

“The today’s event crowns the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to implement the reforms inherent to the integration process”, Basescu noted.

The two presidents agreed that Romania and Moldova should continue and boost European cooperation, that would be for the benefit of the citizens from the two banks of Prut.
