President Nicolae Timofti today conveyed a message of congratulations to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and welcomed the strong vote of confidence given to him by the European Parliament.
"I would like to take this opportunity to express my country's willingness to enhance and boost the friendly relations and cooperation with the European Union, under Moldova’s determination to join the great European family”, reads the president’s message.
President Nicolae Timofti expressed confidence that in the next five years, during his mandate, the Commission’s elected president, Jean-Claude Juncker, would contribute to building a cohesive and prosperous Europe - "a union of cultural diversity and respect for joint values and principles, a union that shall take account of the most urgent problems, consolidating its role internationally."
