President Nicolae Timofti today met Czech Senate’s Vice President Premysl Sobotka at the State Residence.
The head of state voiced satisfaction with the present phase of the Moldovan-Czech relations. At the same time, he spoke out for the boosting of the political, economic and cultural bilateral cooperation. Nicolae Timofti thanked the Prague authorities for the support given Moldova in the EU integration.
Czech Senate’s Vice President Premysl Sobotka said the Czech Republic would further back the European aspirations of Moldova.
Premysl Sobotka also said that, during meetings in Moldova, he had noticed the Chisinau officials’ will to give a fresh impetus to the relations with the Czech Republic – an EU member state, in the perspective of Moldova signing the Association Agreement with the European Union on 27 June.
Premysl Sobotka informed Nicolae Timofti about the interest of Czech business people in investment projects in Moldova. “The Czech firms want to participate in tenders on infrastructure works in your country,” the Czech official said.
The sides discussed the reforms carried out within the Eastern Partnership programme, as well as about the ensuring of Moldova’s energy security, in the context of the tense regional situation.
