Igor Dodon took part in the Divine Liturgy at the the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine in Rome

The President of the country took part in the Divine Liturgy in the Roman Orthodox Church of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine in Rome, headed by the administrator of the Orthodox parishes in Italy, Bishop Matthew.

A lot of people from Moldova came to the temple. The church is one of the main places where our fellow citizens go to Rome. It is very good that our people, even abroad, remain faithful to our Orthodox spiritual tradition.

The Head of State expressed his gratitude to Bishop Matthew for the spiritual nourishment of the Moldovans who are far away from the Motherland.

The President of the Republic of Moldova donated the icon of the twelve Moldovan Saints to the Roman church and informed the representatives of the church and parishioners that yesterday he asked the Holy See leadership to provide more places for our Orthodox Christian churches in Italy.

"At the same time, as part of the dialogue with our compatriots, we discussed a whole range of issues concerning the situation in the country and in the world, as well as the issues that face our fellow citizens here in Italy.

Special attention was paid to the necessity of signing an agreement in the field of pension provision and social protection, recognition of diplomas of the formation of Moldovans who are settled in Italy, etc., "the head of state said.

Igor Dodon also informed the audience that he is scheduled to meet tomorrow with the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, during which the head of the Moldovan state will inform all his questions about his Italian counterpart, asking for their prompt decision.

The President's meeting with our compatriots ended with a meal.
