The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met today with Adina Vălean, EU Commissioner for Transport, who is on a visit to our country.
"I welcomed Adina Vălean, EU Commissioner for Transport, to Chisinau today, and we discussed the roads, bridges and railways that literally unite us. On Europe Day, we received good news - today our country signed the agreement to join the Connecting Europe Facility. Moldova and the EU are taking concrete steps to become part of the European family as soon as possible", said President Maia Sandu.
The head of state mentioned that as an associate member of this mechanism, we will receive even more funding for the construction, development, modernisation and completion of trans-European networks in the transport, energy and digital sectors. "I thanked the Commissioner for the European Union's support to have better roads and infrastructure, and for the agreement on the liberalisation of road freight transport with the EU. These things help us to be more connected and to trade more intensively with EU countries," the President stressed.
