The Head of State discussed with the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou in Athens

The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu discussed today with Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic, during a working visit to Athens.

The Head of State thanked President Katerina Sakellaropoulou for the humanitarian assistance provided by Greece in the context of the war in Ukraine, and for supporting our country's European path. In this context, Maia Sandu appreciated the support of the Hellenic Republic for the recent decision of the European Council to grant the status of EU candidate country to the Republic of Moldova.

"Greece is an old and reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova, and the Moldovan diaspora, that is well integrated socially and economically into the Greek society, contributes even more to the rapprochement between our countries," President Maia Sandu said.

The discussion was also focused on the Moldovan-Greek bilateral agenda. "We mentioned that we count on the ratification of the Agreement on social security between our countries by the Greek side, as soon as possible, and also on the advancement of negotiations on the Agreement on the conversion of driving licences. We are also interested in increasing trade relations and Greek investments in our country," the Head of State said.

At the end of the meeting, President Maia Sandu invited President Katerina Sakellaropoulou to visit the Republic of Moldova.
