The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Republic of Ireland, Simon Coveney. Discussions focused on possible ways to develop Moldovan-Irish relations and boost economic and sectoral cooperation.
The Irish official welcomed the fact that the Republic of Moldova has been granted EU candidate country status and reaffirmed his support for Moldova’s European course. President Maia Sandu thanked Ireland for its help in this process, as well as for the support it announced at the Moldova Support Platform Conference. The interlocutors mentioned the significant contribution of the well-integrated Moldovan citizens in Ireland to the development of bilateral relations. In this context, the Irish minister said that work is being already done on the agreement on the recognition and conversion of driving licenses and on the agreement on diplomas in education.
